Hello Friends-
The other day, I saw this striking tree on my walk home. Despite the direct route of lines through its branches, its essence remained intact -the branches had found their way around and upwards to stay connected. There is no doubt that the past seven months have changed our relationship and reliance on technology, but what I realize is that we remain unchanged in the blood coursing through our veins and the thoughts and feelings that make each one of us unique. We continue to adapt and move around the obstacles in order to not just survive, but thrive.
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”- Bruce Lee
While we continue to wade through this pandemic, I urge you to remember that despite the enormous obstacles, we are each still a force of nature -wild, adaptive and wise in our innate ability to recognize firmness and softness both as strengths.
Stay firm in your resolve to do no harm and soft in your heart to act in kindness.
With Love-
