This past Friday, the seniors from our local high school came to walk through the lower school buildings to celebrate the achievement of their impending graduation. It was a beautiful albeit chaotic affair where the children of our school lined the halls waving and clapping as the to be graduates walked with excitement, giving high fives to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance. Both parties were full of smiles and in awe of one another noting how small and how large each other were.
The teacher that I was working with had tears streaming down her face as she stood by her current flock while being greeted by kids she’d taught over a decade ago.
It was beautiful and heartening to witness that long lasting connections can occur while we are learning ABC’s and how to operate in the larger stream of a community.
Our experience at the studio is much the same as teachers and students from all levels and walks of life come together to learn in the larger stream of our community. We work to hold space for one another as we experience tender begins, difficult junctures and profound realizations. The energy that this journey requires on the part of all involved creates a very special bond that can be felt regardless of whether we come together on our mats or take the time out to deal with life’s up and downs.
We wanted to take the time to recognize each of you for the amazing beings that you are. The work that you do each day to learn more peaceful ways of walking through your days is profoundly important especially as we witness the struggles and suffering that exists in our world.
We invite you always to walk our halls and to roll out your mat to continue to learn, to live and to love, whole-heartedly in celebration of one another.
To Love. Always.
