Happy New Year!
The beginning of the new year symbolizes new energy and the hopes of fresh starts and change. It is an invigorating time of year set in the depths of Winter. Often, these brightly charged energies and hopes slow if not fade as quickly as they began as their intensity and activation energy can tip the proverbial scales. While we welcome all dreams and fire, let us also be curious to witness where our imbalances truly lie so that we can adjust our energies to create sustainable progress. Often the seemingly smallest daily actions or one degree of shift in thinking can create the most lasting changes:
“As someone who grew up as an overweight kid, the one word that haunted me amidst the teasing was the word ‘diet’ used in its verb form. As time has elapsed, the idea of progression rather than perfection has made me realize that doing the conscious work everyday of choosing foods that will fuel this body I am in is lifelong and not a fad or fueled by the desire of someone else’s approval. I now use diet as a noun (my diet consists of veggies, grains, joy, …..) and exercise not as a vehicle to fit into a certain size but to elevate my mood and enliven my spirit. I offer this thought out as a sustainable way to live well and love what you put into what you’ve got going on- your body, everyday.”
We welcome the year of the water rabbit which stands as a symbol of peace, prosperity and longevity. In the spirit of this new Zodiac animal, we urge you to sit with yourself to adjust only what pieces need shifting in order to find peace so that your efforts and energy build you for a lifetime of prosperous well-being and sustainability rather than bind you in dis-ease and disappointment.
