Sharon Koh Murray is a native of Belmont, MA and trained as a classical musician at Boston University (B.M.) and Rice University (M.M.). Never having regarded herself as athletic, Sharon eventually found yoga in 2006 after overcoming a series of personal losses: “The practice was the one thing in the fog of everything at that time that made me cry, laugh, trust, share, and taught me how to not take myself too seriously. Most importantly, the yoga practice woke me up to feeling again without running away or putting up barriers.”
Sharon’s practice evolved into service via volunteering at the Baptiste Power Yoga Studio in Cambridge, MA. She eventually became an assistant and then a teacher at the Baptiste Studios in both Cambridge and Brookline. Sharon has studied and completed her 200 RYT with Baron Baptiste through his Level One training in Hawaii and Level Two training in Montana, completed both an in-house Assistant Training and Teacher Training with Gregor Singleton and Claire Este-MacDonald, completed her 500 RYT with Rolf Gates, as well as a Yoga for 12 Step Recovery certification with Nikki Myers.
Currently, Sharon is the editor for the weekly newsletters here at TYC. She is also working on her certification to become an elementary school teacher and trying to decide what she wants to be when she grows up:)
Off the mat, Sharon is a mom, writer, beekeeper, gardener and budding chicken wrangler. She enjoys cooking, reading, running, cycling, helping and listening.
